Summary

This blog discusses the qualities of perseverance and grit, highlighting the story of Lynsey Lee, an entrepreneur and mother who exemplifies these traits. Lynsey faced significant challenges, including the loss of her mother and her own battle with Multiple Sclerosis, which spurred her to create Mama Bear CO, a company producing homemade CBD products and she works with Clear Cannabis Inc. selling The CLEAR brands. The narrative explores how Lynsey manages her business while caring for her twin boys, emphasizing her approach to self-care and the importance of rest, nutrition, and exercise. Her story is presented as an inspiring example of turning personal adversity into triumph, promoting the benefits of perseverance, grit, and community support in overcoming life's obstacles.

A Journey with Lynsey Lee

Popular psychology pushes slogans and memes about grit and perseverance, but what exactly are these attributes, how do you acquire them, and why are they important?

Perseverance, by definition, is “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure or opposition.” On the other hand, grit is courage and strength of character. So, together, these words define a person with strong beliefs who doesn’t quit.

“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” Walk Through Fire

“Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other”    Walter Elliot.

“Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work through difficult problems”    Gever Tulley.

“Grit is living life like it’s a marathon, not a sprint.” Angela Duckworth

Grit is important because it drives achievement and success, independent of and beyond what talent and intelligence contribute. Being naturally smart and talented are great, but to truly do well and thrive, we need the ability to persevere. Without grit, talent may be nothing more than unmet potential. Only with effort does talent become a skill that leads to success (Duckworth 2016).

Which sounds great on paper; however, by default, a person who can be described using these words has lived through and grown from challenges no one wants to experience. Like muscles, the only way to build these traits is to test their limits, which, in all honesty, most of us don’t want to build muscles or test limits because it’s hard.

By nature, we all want to be comfortable. However, the real test comes when we are not given the choice of whether to keep moving forward because there is no other option. Enter Lynsey Lee, a dynamic entrepreneur, devoted mother, and Senior Account Manager at Clear Cannabis Inc. In the latest episode of our podcast, Let’s Get Clear, hosted by Monica Pina, Lynsey shares her powerful narrative that combines personal loss, health challenges, and entrepreneurial spirit. Lynsey has nothing but perseverance and grit, but it most definitely was developed out of necessity.

CBD and THC Products

Lynsey’s journey is one of both adversity and triumph. Facing the immense challenge of her mother’s passing coupled with her own diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), she found herself at a crossroads. Though fraught with difficulty, this period of her life sparked a transformation. It led to the birth of Mama Bear CO and her position with The CLEAR. This venture started as a modest endeavor creating homemade CBD products and THC from The CLEAR brands which is licensed through Clear Cannabis Inc.

Balancing Act: Entrepreneur and Mother

One of the most compelling aspects of Lynsey’s story is how she balances her professional responsibilities with being a mother to twin boys. This dual role presents challenges, from managing time effectively to ensuring she meets her children’s emotional and physical needs. Lynsey calls MS the “snowflake disease” because it uniquely affects each individual, which further complicates her daily life. Yet, she emphasizes the importance of listening to her body and the critical role of rest, which she admits is often easier said than done.

Perseverance and Grit

Lynsey’s narrative is a testament to the essence of perseverance and grit. She discusses the hurdles of sourcing materials like CBD isolate and the everyday challenges of product formulation, packaging, and delivery. Despite these obstacles, her advice to anyone facing tough times is straightforward yet powerful: “Don’t give up. Take everything one day at a time.” This mantra of persistence has helped her navigate the complexities of licensing, regulations, and the demanding nature of the cannabis industry.

The Importance of Self-Care

For Lynsey, self-care is more than a buzzword; it’s a necessary part of sustaining her energy and health. It means knowing when to say ‘no’ and recognizing the importance of rest, nutrition, and exercise. These practices are essential for her well-being and ability to care for others. In a world that never stops moving, Lynsey’s approach reminds us of the value of pausing and caring for oneself.

A Beacon of Inspiration

Lynsey Lee’s story is more than just a tale of starting a business; it’s about transforming personal trials into triumphs. Her journey with The CLEAR and Mama Bear CO is not just about the success of her business but about fostering a community of support and education around the benefits of CBD and THC.

You are Not alone
